Farm Stay Accommodation :: Kangaroo Valley

Four cottages, accommodating from 2 to 8 people, have verandahs looking onto breathtaking views of the valley. They are well appointed with BBQ facilities, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, crisp white sheets, and soft fluffy towels.

Fresh local eggs and conserves are provided for your breakfast. The water supply at The Cedars comes from natural springs throughout the farm.

The Cedars is a working farm and the home of famous Shire Draught horses and beef cattle. Our Shire Draught horses were featured in the July 1999 Burke's Backyard magazine and the television program of the same name.

The Past

In the 1860's The Cedars came into being following an original land grant of 226 acres. In those days the farm was entirely self-sufficient. The family ran dairy cattle for milk and cheese, sheep for wool and meat, pigs and chooks, as well as an orchard and a comprehensive veggie patch.

Collecting water from the creeks on drays pulled by bullocks was a day's job on its own. There was land clearing and fence building and repairing to do as well. The area was one of the original sources of Cedar timber, bullock-driven to market and there are still many stands of fine Cedars throughout the farm.

Today, The Cedars is over 1200 acres in area and is surrounded mostly by Morton National Park.
