Activities at The Cedars
Travellers will find that this part of "the undiscovered continent" hosts an unbelievably complex world of wildlife. Wherever one wanders, one's gaze is rewarded with the tranquillity and breathtaking beauty of The Cedars. Connoisseurs of nature can enjoy the peace and privacy of kilometres of mountain trails through virgin bushland. Australian wildlife abounds, such as echidnas, lyre birds, wallabies, parrots, platypi, kookaburras, wombats and of course, kangaroos. Two Wedge-Tail Eagles live in the nearby mountains and they can often be seen circling above the farmsteads. Terry will be available to explain and identify the abundance of birdlife at Cedars. Trekkers can use the kilometres of various grades of Cedars safe walking tracks for personalised preparation for treks such as Kokoda or Kilimanjaro, explore the 19th century historic tracks to the Keenan's Pass, Simon can arrange suitable trekking programs and guide through these historic tracks. |
However, not all of the life at The Cedars is wild. The Cedars farmstead is home to prize-winning Australian Shire Draught horses, including Archie, Cedar's Sydney Royal Champion. Helene would be rapt to answer all your equestrian inquiries. Visitors looking for a true Australia rural experience are welcome to help out at The Cedars in tending to cattle, horses, sheep, goats and chickens and learn about living life on a farm. Meet and hand feed Thelma and Louise and the Awesome Foursome. Collect your breakfast eggs from the chook pen. Greg and Helene are available to answer any question you may have about the horses, beef cattle and farm life in general, including how much rain they've had! |
For the active and adventurous, tennis is available on The Cedars' private court and swimming is a pleasant way to spend a summer afternoon for those who venture down to the Barrengary Creek. Personalised horse riding with Geoff, fresh water fishing with John, canoeing and mountain bike tours with Jan and Rob can be arranged through the Kangaroo Valley Tourist Association web site. The Kangaroo Valley Golf and Country club offers a challenging 18 holes of golf. The Cedars is a spectacular location for Weddings, Conferences, and Retreats.
